Croton Water Filtration Plant
Location: Bronx, NY

Project Description:

Munoz Engineering is providing construction management services as a sub-consultant for the new Croton Water Filtration Plant in the Borough of the Bronx. 

This is one of the largest construction projects in New York City’s history.  It consists of a 4 story, 12 acre treatment plant built entirely underground at Van Cortlandt Park. 10 of those acres will be converted to a municipal golf course over the filtration plant.  

When completed, the plant will filter 290 million gallons of water per day from the Croton Reservoir, one of three active reservoir systems serving New York City.  The Croton system provides approximately 10% of New York City’s water demand.

Muñoz’ construction management services include mechanical, civil and electrical construction inspection as well as cost engineering and site safety work.

Project Description:
Munoz is a Prime Consultant for Construction Monitoring Services for New York State, Division of Housing & Community Renewal, Office of Community Development.

Services performed by Munoz included:
1) Attend pre-construction meetings, conduct project site visits and attend job meetings.
2) Provide written construction progress reports, including observations with respect to project administration, estimated percentage of completion, value of work in place, and deviations from the approved contract documents, including progress photographs and a record of variances from approved contract documents.
3) Review the percentage of completion as reflected by the project architect's payment request form.
4) Review all proposed change orders for completeness, provide written field observations and make recommendations regarding the soundness of each change order.
5) Attend the final inspection.
6) Perform the as built drawing review.
7) Provide technical assistance to HTFC on construction related issues.





NYCHA CM Build
Location: New York, NY
Owner: NYC Housing Authority
Project Description:

Munoz is a CM/Build Prime Consultant for NYC Housing Authority. 


Harborview Terrace Windows Replacement Project

The Project calls for the removal and replacement of over 2000 windows and terrace doors at two high-rise buildings located in mid-town Manhattan.  Work also includes wrapping sills, installing child safety guards and A/C brackets where necessary in 377 occupied apartments.

 

Baisley Park Roof and Masonry Repair

This project consists of the roof replacement of six buildings at Baisley Park Houses, Borough of Queens.   The development has 378 Apartments and a population of approximately 930.

 

The work includes:


Tightening of relieving angles as necessary, Re-pointing all brick at elevator & stair bulkheads & chimneys, Repairing of existing parapet railing, Refurbishing metal platforms & ladders







White Hall Ferry Terminal
Location: New York, NY
Owner: New York Economic Development Corporation
Project Description:
Munoz provided mechanical engineering support and construction inspection services in the preconstruction and construction phases of the $135 million reconstruction of the Whitehall Ferry Terminal. The facility is a 200,000 SF four story, steel framed building, featuring concrete foundations on steel piles and caissons, topped by a roof deck and canopy. The building rises four stories on the facility's waterside, topped with a roof deck and canopy. The terminal is two-stories high on its landside, with one of the spaces containing 50-ft.-high ceilings. Also included is a 75-ft.-high entry hall, 6,000-sq.-ft. of retail space and food concessions and a 19,000-sq.-ft. waiting room. The project includes three ferry slips, a redesign of Peter Minuit Plaza and a reconfiguration of the existing traffic islands and intersecting streets that currently front the terminal. The new plaza is being connected to the terminal by a stairway.

In the preconstruction phase, Munoz played a key role in consulting and advising on the design, staging sequencing, scheduling and procuring of mechanical systems and equipment for the construction plan. Constructability reviews were performed for design and bid packages, and value engineering recommendations were made. Construction documents were reviewed for inconsistency and for clarity. Equipment requiring long lead items were identified particularly with regard to HVAC, Elevator and Escalator, and Ferry Bridge Mechanisms.

Construction phase supervision focused on quality control and compliance with the construction contract documents, providing full time supervision and coordination for mechanical system reconstruction.





Newark Schools
Location: Newark, NJ
Owner: New Jersey Schools Construction Corporation
Project Description:
Life and Safety Construction Contracts are being supervised by Muñoz as a subconsultant, providing the services of a site manager and a roofing consultant, for various schools within the City of Newark. Work includes the removal of old roofing material, the installation of new insulation, base sheet, cap sheet or stone, plus parapet coping, trim and new drains. As the list indicates, some of the schools are over 130 years old.
